How to Layer Necklaces Like a Stylist

Double Layer Heart necklace

Layered necklaces look effortless, but the best stacks follow a few simple rules. Once you know them, you can build a new look every morning from just three or four pieces.

Rule 1: Vary the lengths

Leave about 5 cm between each layer. A short chain that sits near the collarbone, a mid-length piece just below it, and a longer pendant at the top of the chest gives each necklace room to be seen.

Rule 2: Mix textures

Pair a fine, plain chain with something that has more presence, such as a beaded chain, a crystal pendant or a double-layer design. Too many identical chains blend into one line.

Rule 3: Pick one hero

Choose one piece to be the star: a tulip charm, a heart pendant or a pearl drop. Keep the others quieter so the focus stays clear.

Rule 4: Stick to one tone

A stack in the same yellow-gold finish always looks polished. Since all Mirel Sea pieces share the same warm gold tone, they layer together easily.

Rule 5: Match your neckline

  • Crew neck or tee: two short layers sitting above the neckline.
  • V-neck: layers that follow the V, with the longest pendant at the point.
  • Off-shoulder or saree blouse: a single double-layer chain, or two dainty layers close to the neck.
  • Shirt collar: one short chain worn under an open collar.

Five stacks to try

  1. A dainty solitaire pendant with a plain short chain.
  2. A double-layer heart necklace on its own: it is a ready-made stack.
  3. A pearl pendant with a fine crystal chain for evenings.
  4. Two tulip pendants in different colours for a playful mix.
  5. A bar necklace with a small round pendant below it.

Stop the tangles

Fasten the longest necklace first and work your way up. When you take them off, lay them flat and store each one separately.
